Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress' presidential candidate, cannot be allowed to monopolize Osun State like he did with Lagos State, according to human rights attorney Pelumi Olajengbesi of Abuja.

In response to a remark made by Tinubu at the APC rally in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, ahead of the Osun governorship election on July 16, Olajengbesi made this known in a statement on Wednesday.

According to The MEDIA, the former governor of Lagos State reportedly said that supporters of the Labour Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and other ostensibly minor parties will "labor till they die."

Vote with the future in mind and keep your children in mind. Crowds should gather. Don't worry about the PDP or other "mushroom" parties like Labour; they will work till they drop. God won't turn you into slaves, Tinubu said at the event.

Olajengbesi said that Tinubu's statement demonstrated that he was not a democratic as his supporters claimed, as his differing opinions and the freedom to seek office and be elected are fundamental principles of democracy anywhere in the globe.

"Bola Tinubu's remarks in Osun State on Tuesday demonstrated that he is not the genuine democrat that his backers portray him to be. It is extreme partisanship.

Tinubu's remarks are unkind and uncharacteristic of an APC National Leader, let alone a presidential candidate. It proves that Tinubu, if elected, will exterminate rival parties into oblivion, like he did in Lagos, where his party has held sway for 23 continuous years, Olajengbesi stated in the statement.

The attorney, who serves as the Principal Officer of the Abuja-based law company Law Corridor, characterized the statement as provocative and uncharitable, adding that it demonstrated Tinubu's intolerance for the rival.

Additionally, he indicated that there was a risk that it might worsen if the APC candidate won the presidency in 2023.

"No one should be disparaged for running in an election, even registered parties with the Independent National Electoral Commission. Come July 16, the people of Osun should be allowed to vote for whoever they like, including Oyetola, Ademola Adeleke of the PDP, Lasun Yusuf of the Labour Party, or any other candidate of their choosing.

"Tinubu's remarks in Osun amounted to voting intimidation, and the former governor of Lagos ought to apologize for his disgusting remark. As opposed to an autocrat, we live in a democracy.

If the APC presidential candidate were to hold government, Olajengbesi emphasized, "going by his comments, he might go as far as strangling the remaining 17 political parties to death."
